:
The garage is converted - and a place for expansion
Ian
writes . . . .
We finally moved in the Saturday before Christmas. It was a chaotic
day, beginning with about 4 hours of torrential rain and Silver in the
recording studio with Harmony 6. Amazingly, by bed time we were all
quite organised.
We had got the keys of the house before I went away to Kenya so by
the time we moved in Silver had organised for a bunch of work to be
done. This was mostly internal alterations and painting plus an external
bathroom. One of the main internal changes was to the kitchen. It was a
small room with multiple doors and very inconvenient. The wall is now
knocked through to the dining area, door to hallway bricked up and
plastered with the back door relocated. All the kitchen needs now is
work surface and cupboards that can all be added later.
(These were added in March
due to the kind work and generosity of friends in KBC)
The two boys-quarter rooms behind the garage have been completely
renovated and are now occupied (over occupied!!).
The garage is no more. As I write today the ceiling is being put in,
the final work to turn it into a 10ft x 15ft room (the Youthworx EA Head
Quarters.)
The next major job is the compound wall. Currently the garden is a
brick making factory, with every available space having mud bricks
drying in the sun. These will be will be burnt in about a weeks time to
supplement buying in bricks from outside which is expensive. Most of the
other materials are already here. It will be a major job as the compound
is almost an acre. Work on the wall will probably stretch into February
and needs to be a little slow for financial as well as practical
reasons. |
Ian also comments that upcoming
building projects will include a new garage suitable for the height of
4x4 vehicles, guest rooms, and paving when the construction work is
complete.
Please pray for and support this important development. This base is
going to be strategic in the ongoing ministry for YEA.
